TILE can send automated email messages to your learners for certain triggering events, such as being registered to a course, receiving an activity score, or resetting a password. We recommend tailoring the wording and images in these automated emails as appropriate for your organization and course. Follow the instructions in each section in this guide to customize the following:

  • New Registration Message
  • Registration Activated Message
  • Email Banner Image

Customize New Registration Message

Step-by-Step Instructions

6. Update the text of the email in the Template HTML text editor. For instance, update the ‘[course_name]’ placeholder with the actual name of your course. This is also a good place to write a “Welcome to the Course!” message and/or general information/instructions related to the online class.

7. Select Save when you are finished.

8. Your updates are saved to the email template.

NOTE: The name of the template itself (e.g., 'REGISTRATION_NEW') cannot be changed.

Preview the Email

1. To get a preview of what learners will see when they receive the email, select the context menu for the email template and then select Email Me.

2. This sends a message to the email account you have registered with TILE.

Customize Email Banner Image

Watch this video to see how you can replace the default "TILE" banner image in any email template you choose to. This is a good way to "brand" your organization or course, and helps your learners trust the email message. You can also follow the Step-by-Step instructions below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Go to the Email Templates page and then scroll down to an email template that you want to update the banner image for.

2. Select the context menu for the email, then select Edit.

3. The Template settings panel opens. Right-click on the banner image in the Template HTML text editor, then select the Image Properties option.

4. The Image Properties panel opens. Enter a URL location for the image you want to use. Select OK.

NOTE: You can't upload new images in the Image Properties editor, so this will need to be an image you already uploaded to the internet. (Refer to the Upload Content Guide for information on uploading images to TILE's media server.) The recommended size for email banner images is 640X150 pixels.

5. The banner image is now updated in the Template HTML text editor.

6. Select Save if you are happy with the new banner image.

7. The new banner image is saved to the email template. Repeat steps 2-6 above for each email template where you want to use your custom image.
